O.C. creator Josh Schwartz’s other beloved teen drama, Gossip Girl, set to premiere in July on HBO Max. The producer has said he has no plans to revive The O.C. too, but fans are still making the same wish every Chrismukkah.

Although the ratings for The O.C. didn’t bounce back — the fourth season averaged less than 4 million viewers a week — the show’s quality did. Unfortunately, the ratings were an insurmountable obstacle and Fox canceled the show, but not before the writers gave the characters an emotionally satisfying final farewell.

In the show’s second season, Barton says shooting became more strenuous, and she didn’t see a clear path for her character, Marissa. Barton said she was turning down leading roles in big films due to her work on the series, and finally decided to step away from The O.C. to pursue those opportunities.

She seeks out help from a therapist, but realizes that her and Ryan are right for each other and they get back together. Ryan and Taylor kiss and they agree to sort out their relationship issues. Ryan and Taylor become a couple again.

Ryan takes Marissa into his arms and away from the car as it explodes. He tells her that he will need to go get help, but knowing that nothing can be done, she asks him to stay. After a few moments of looking into each other’s eyes, she dies while in Ryan’s arms.

Sandy briefly cheated on Kirsten when his first love, Rebecca Bloom, came to town. Then Kirsten becomes an alcoholic and also cheats with her co-worker Carter Buckley. Even though they both had affairs, the duo realized that their love for each other was much stronger than any other relationship.

Desperate for Ryan to pull over so he could talk to Marissa, he drove them off the road. Then, as Imogen Heap’s version of “Hallelujah” — a beautiful combination of the season 1 finale song and the season 2 finale artist — played, Ryan tried to save Marissa one last time. Only this time, he failed. THE O.C.

She was in a relationship with Jason Sudeikis, and they welcomed two children together: Otis and Daisy. The stars broke up in 2020, and she is now dating Harry Styles.
