She will probably eat eggs every time. SOMETIMES they change behavior. But they mostly do the same on each spawn. A good female/mother (like a good male) will not eat eggs nor fry.

As far as I know, Remove the female, Leave the male with the eggs till they hatch (he will take care of them), after hatched, as soon as the male sees the fry as food, he should be removed asap. Then raise fry with fine foods.

As the fry start to hatch, they fall from the bubbles and the male will catch them and put them back. You can expect the fry to stay in the bubbles with their tail hanging down for 2-3 days until they’re ready to swim horizontally by around day 4. As soon as the fry are free swimming, the male will need to be removed.

Can two betta fish live together? Yes. You can keep two bettas together, provided they are not both male. Keeping two males together will surely end in a fight to the death.

Never house two bettas together. The baby would become chow. You should buy a 2-5 gallon tank equipped with a heater and lots of hiding places. “To give them, however small and fragile they may be, a second chance to show their golden hearts.”

Diseases and illnesses spread faster. When fish are kept under stressful circumstances, their immune systems take a hit. In a Betta sorority, illnesses can spread like wildfire and take out an entire fish tank. It’s not uncommon to lose groups to parasites, which take advantage of compromised fish.

Snails. Snails are great little guys to put in with bettas. The fish probably won’t even realise they’re there. Make sure they aren’t too little or the betta may attempt to eat them.

You should also consider a female betta with tetras. When picking a betta, pick one which has already been living with other fish. Provide plenty of hiding places and keep your tetras in a school of 6 or more. Make sure you’re keeping them in a tank which is 15 gallons or bigger.

While it is possible for female betta fish to lay eggs without a male being present, the eggs will not be able to hatch, and will often rot, leading to ammonia and nitrite spikes. Healthy female bettas will always be carrying some eggs, and if a male is not present, they will constantly reabsorb and recreate eggs.

Betta eggs initially come out white. However, when they are fertilised they will turn to black dots with the embryos growing inside them. If they remain white they will turn fuzzy. These eggs are infertile.

Eggs in a 75°F+ environment can hatch in 24 hours, while eggs in colder temperatures can take more than 3 days to hatch.
