“If everything goes as per plan and the consortium receives the NCLT and regulatory approvals on time, Jet Airways would be back in the skies by the summer of 2021,” the consortium said in Dec. 2020.

For Economy passengers with two pieces of luggage, the total combined dimensions (length + breadth + height) of both pieces should not exceed 273cm (107 inches). Also the linear dimension of each piece should not exceed 62 inches. The weight of each bag must not exceed 23 Kgs or 50 pounds.

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has approved the revival plan for grounded airline Jet Airways on Tuesday. It has approved the resolution plan for Jet Airways submitted by the Kalrock-Jalan consortium, giving a ray of hope to the airline.

NEW DELHI: Nearly one-and-a-half years after it shut shop and admitted under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), Jet Airways finally found a buyer on Saturday. The consortium of Kalrock Capital and Murari Lal Jalan are the new owners of the airline.

Jet Airways shuttered operations in April 2019 after running out of cash and is currently a resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).

After a long winding bankruptcy proceeding, the lenders in October 2020 managed to approve the acquisition of the airline by a consortium comprising Dubai-based businessman Murari Lal Jalan and London-based asset management company Kalrock Capital which agreed to revive the airline at a cost of $136 million.

The Jalan Group is primarily involved in the construction business. Jalan-Kalrock consortium prepared a resolution plan to take over Jet Airways and in October 2020 and submitted it to Jet Airways Committee of Creditors (CoC). The CoC has given approval to the plan.

But by then the airline had reduced its operations to only five flights. On April 5, Jet Airways’ fuel supplier cut off the company refusing to refuel their planes until they had been paid. A decision was taken to shut down all domestic and international flights with immediate effect.
