Doolittle tells Danny he’s been accepted into the British “Eagle Squadron” and will leave for England the next day. The boys get ready for a night out with the Army Nurses. Danny is upset with Rafe for agreeing to go to England because that’s where the fighting is worst.

Rafe is eager to fight, and because the United States is not yet at war, he volunteers for the Eagle Squadron, a group of Americans who are set to help the British Royal Air Force fight the Nazi blitz.

During a mission to intercept a Luftwaffe bombing raid, Rafe is shot down over the English Channel and is presumed killed in action. Evelyn mourns his death and turns to Danny, which spurs a new romance between the two.

Rafe pulls him close and tells him he can’t die because he is going to be a father, but he promised Evelyn that he wasn’t going to tell. Danny gives a weak smile, but then tells Rafe that it is he who will be a father, not him. He dies in his best friends arms.

He would always know that, given the choice, she chose Danny. The supposed happy ending in Pearl Harbor left me totally depressed; luckily, 12-year-olds bounce back about as quickly as Evelyn.

The scenes leading up to and featuring the pilots’ dogfights over the harbor are accurate, but the similarities seem to end there. That is, except for the very expensive and realistic-looking explosions.

After the Doolittle raid, Danny is shot while trying to save Rafe’s life. He begs Rafe to have someone else write his name on the tombstone. Rafe then tells Danny that he can’t die because he is going to be a father, but he promised Evelyn he wasn’t going to tell him.

Ian Hernon, author of Fortress Britain, has found dozens of examples that prove that Britain has been invaded and attacked at least 70 times. He did not include the hundreds of small invasions on the south west coast, or Wales, that plagued many a small town, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Today, the United Kingdom consists of four constituent countries, and it is responsible for three crown dependencies and fourteen overseas territories, although the legacy of the British Empire can still be seen, and it’s impact will be felt for centuries to come.
