This sense of agency is essential for you to feel in control of your life: to believe in your capacity to influence your own thoughts and behavior, and have faith in your ability to handle a wide range of tasks or situations.

And, reflecting upon my work with inquiry-based learning and project based learning, here are five ways to promote student agency.

1. Create a culture of inquiry and creativity.
2. Emphasize relevance over engagement.
3. Share out learning targets.
4. Facilitate ongoing feedback.
5. Allow for Reflection and Publishing.
6. In the end.

Personal agency refers to one’s capability to origi- nate and direct actions for given purposes. It is influenced by the belief. in one’s effectiveness in performing specific tasks, which is termed self- efficacy, as well as by one’s actual skill.

In proposing a psychology of human agency, Bandura (2001a, 2006) identified four core properties and pillar principles that comprise human agency, namely, intentionality, forethought, self- reactiveness, and self-reflectiveness.

Self-reactiveness is a form of self-regulation. People use a reactive strategy for self-regulation when they try to reduce the discrepancies between their achievements and their goals. Self-reflectiveness comes about through self –awareness.

The agentic self is defined as the aspect of human personality that is determined by future assessments of one’s goals, objectives, and actions. A unified agentic self is composed of different cognitive components that influence the overall personality and future aspirations of an individual.

Bandura believes that through our agency we humans are perceived as proactive agents of experiences. Through this agents or agency we humans play a big role in our self development, adaptation and self renewal. Self reactiveness involves making choices.

In looking for religious agency, one aims to detect how individuals contribute to such change. Agency is not practiced in a vacuum but is enacted within specific social contexts. Religious agency is understood here as a personal and collective claiming and enacting of dynamic religious identity.

The relationship between an agent and a principal is a contractual one. Therefore, rights and duties of the agent and principal are in accordance with the agency contract. To establish an agency, there must be consent of both the principal and the agent, although such consent may be implied rather than expressed.
