It was natural to see these two deities unified or fused as one form: the Greek god Hermes presided over eloquence, the goddess Athena over crafts and the sciences. Hermes and Athena were also described as half-siblings because Zeus was the father of both gods.

What might have let Athena and Hermes to help Perseus in his quest? They may be helping him because his father is Zeus, the god of all gods. Alos, they might be recognizing his bravery or trying to rid the world as a monster.

As the son of Zeus, Perseus had help from the gods during his journey to find Medusa. His courage, strength, and intelligence was also the reason that Perseus saved Andromeda from the Cetus and returned home with her, slaying both Phineus and Polydectes with the head of Medusa by turning them into stone.

In one version of the myth, Pallas was the daughter of the sea-god Triton; she and Athena were childhood friends, but Athena accidentally killed her during a friendly sparring match.
