Why does Juana follow on his path of life even if she disagrees with some of his choices? She thinks that she can calm his madness down and she also wants to respect and support his decisions. Kino has allowed the Pearl to take over his life at the expense of everything else in his life.

The baby was too far gone for the doctor to help him. Coyotito would be seen by the doctor as soon as possible. Why did Juana cry out after Kino found the great pearl? She thought she saw a vision of a guardian angel in the clouds.

Kino stares at the pearl to read his future. He lies to Juana, telling her that he sees a rifle, a marriage in a church, and an education for Coyotito. In truth Kino sees a body bleeding on the ground, Juana making her way home through the night after being beaten, and Coyotito’s face swollen as though he were sick.

She had known he would be angry because she had suggested throwing the pearl away the night before, and he had said no, emphatically stating, “I am a man”, and vowing to fight for what was his.

Kino admits that in the dark he was unable to tell who attacked him. After Juana washes out his last cut, she begs him in desperation to discard the evil pearl.

The pearl buyer’s trick of rolling the coin through his fingers is symbolic of his “trickery” with money. Kino is aware that the pearlbuyers are in league with each other, but he decides to give them a try; perhaps they will unexpectedly give him a fair price.

Juana tries to throw the pearl into the sea because she thinks that the pearl is evil and that it is going to destroy them. Kino slaps Juana and kicks Juana to get the pearl from her.

Before leaving to sell the pearl, Juan Tomas warns Kino and Juana to get the best price for the pearl, and tells him how their ancestors got an agent to sell their pearls, but this agent ran off with the pearls. Kino had heard the story told as a warning of punishment against those who try to leave their station..

Coyotito

Kino sneaks down in the night to kill the trackers, but before he can attack them, Coyotito cries out. The trackers, thinking it’s a coyote, shoot at the dark cave where Juana and Coyotito are hiding. As the shot is fired, Kino springs on the trackers and kills them all.

What did the Doctor offer to do after treating Coyotito? to take Kino’s pearl and keep it safe. How did Kino know there was something wrong after killing the trackers?

Kino left to go to the capital because he knew he was being cheated because the pearl cost fifty thousand pesos. What happened when Kino went to sell his pearl? He got angry, followed her, and beat her until he got the pearl back.

They thought he was uneducated and would take any price offered to him. They felt that Kino should accept the money offered because the pearl buyers know more about pearls than he does. Kino decided to go to the capital to sell the pearl after he was attacked at night outside of his house.

Juana want to throw away the pearl, because someone came into the house to search for the pearl, Kino grabs his knife and strikes out in the dark, the person scurries out.

What bad thing happened to make Juana want to throw away the pearl? AN Intruder invades their home smashes Kino’s head, but Kino knifes him. This makes Juana want to throw the pearl away.

In Chapter 1 when Kino first looked at the pearl he saw a church wedding for Juana and himself. They throw the pearl back into the sea because he felt guilt by what the pearl had represented. The pearl had turned him into an animal.

The pearl was to have secured for Coyotito a good education and for Kino, a good rifle. Kino does enter the town carrying a rifle but this, in terms of the death of his son, is completely meaningless. Kino and Juana go straight to the Gulf, where Kino gives her the pearl to throw away.

Why doesn’t Juana throw the pearl into the ocean when Kino offers it to her? Because it his duty morally and he needs to end it. they fiercely held on to their spiritual beliefs.

Why is Kino more convinced than ever that the pearl is of great value? His instincts awaken him because Juana thinks that he is dreaming of fighting someone because he senses danger is coming closer and he is right. He means that Kino is being driven by instinct inside of him.

What happened to Kino after he left Juana on the beach? He was ambushed, and he killed the attacker.

How does Kino respond to Juana’s actions? How has the pearl changed him? Juana leaves secretly and tries to throw the pearl into the sea. Kino is furious and punches her in the face, knocking her to the ground and kicking her in the side.

Kino realizes that Juana is right, and they resolve to flee. While Juana runs back to the brush house to grab Coyotito, Kino returns to the beach to ready his canoe for the escape. She confirms that their house has been burned down completely.
