Spa water that is tinted clear yellow usually indicates a high bromine residual and a low pH. This is fairly common with bromine spa systems, because the bromine can discolor the Phenol Red used to test pH. When the pH and total alkalinity are properly adjusted, the yellow discoloration should go away.

Choose your dose of shock according to the package and label. Be cautious while putting shock into the water. After NON-CHLORINE shock wait 10-15 minutes before entering. After chlorine shock it can take up to 24 hours to clear.

How to Keep Hot Tub Water Crystal Clear

1. Use a spa cover.
2. Use a debris remover to keep the debris out.
3. Ask users to shower before usage.
4. Shower caps in the hot tub.
5. Test your water for pH and alkalinity.
6. Add the necessary chemicals.
7. Sanitize your hot tub regularly.
8. Empty the hot tub every 6 months.

If the water has been green for over 24 hours or the above has not worked then the best way to clear green water from your tub is to drain, clean thoroughly and then refill with fresh new water. Make sure the filters are cleaned and wipe down the interior so that any remaining algae is removed.

To shock your hot tub, simply follow these easy instructions.

1. Adjust the pH levels of your spa’s water to between 7.4 and 7.6.
2. Remove the hot tub cover so your spa can breathe while being shocked.
3. Turn off the air to the jets but leave the circulation pump running so the water is moving but is not too agitated.

If you are using the 2-part bromine sanitizing system such as Rendezvous® Enhance and Activate, it is recommended that you shock each time you finish using your spa. If you are using chlorine or bromine tablets, it is recommended that you shock at least one time per week.

Shock (Optional) If you have time for a deeper cleaning, then it is a good practice to super-shock the hot tub water. This will kill bacteria that are present in the water and allow the purge product to work effectively. Do not put the hot tub cover on, as shock needs to oxidize or time to release gases.

Effects of too much chlorine For example, it may cause eye irritation, over-dried skin, and possibly some breathing problems. If theres too much chlorine it will vaporise and form gas that floats just above the surface of the water.

You can’t get into any hot tub or pool immediately after chlorine or any other chemical has been dumped into it. You need time to allow the chemical, in this case, chlorine, to dissipate into the water. So how long do you have to wait after adding it? You should wait at least thirty minutes or so.

Add initial chemicals according to the “Refilling Your Spa” section of the Operation and Care Guide. 12. 24 to 48 hours after the spa has been operational, check alkalinity and pH with test strips or test kit—adjust accordingly. Do not complete this step until this water is hot and has been in for 24 or more hours.

Chlorine multifunctional tablets – Are designed to maintain chlorine levels within your spa/hot tub. The chlorine tablets should be dosed using a small floating dispenser which should be removed from the hot tub when people are bathing (be careful to place it on a non-bleachable surface).

How often do you put chlorine tablets in a hot tub? This depends on how big your tub is and also what tablets sizes you use. A 20g chlorine tablet will take between three to seven days to dissolve if the water flow and temperatures remain favorable. This means you can put such tablets every three or seven days.

There are two main sizes of chlorine tablet on the market. Due to the water capacity, we do not reccomend using large 200g swimming pool tablets in a hot tub as they will lead to high levels of chlorine which could cause damage to components. Use 20g chlorine tablets only in hot tubs.
