The relationship between Humpback Whales and marine birds is an excellent example of commensalism. When a large school of these fish is located near the surface of the water, the whales will then rise up with their mouths agape and take in mouthfuls of them.

Killer whales hunt like wolves, encircling prey before attacking. Now researchers at Marineland in Ontario, Canada have observed a 4-year-old killer whale setting a trap for seagulls by spitting fish onto the water’s surface as bait.

Dolphins will often chase the cormorants and seagulls as well.

Their throats are too small to swallow a human, Gorter told Live Science, though some baleen whales have been documented to accidentally swallow small birds. Humpback whales, he said, have been found with Cassin’s auklets in their stomachs, but those birds grow to only about 9 inches (23 centimeters) long.

Killer whales are not the only predators that eat penguins. Other penguin predators include leopard seals, sea lions and shark. All of these animals hunt in the water.

They are carnivores that love to eat fish. Their teeth are not used for chewing, only for capturing and holding on to the food. Baleen whales feed by filtering or straining food from the water. They love to eat krill, fish, zooplankton, phytoplankton, and algae.

Similarly, Atlantic bluefin tuna are eaten by a wide variety of predators. Adult Atlantic Bluefin are not eaten by anything other than the very largest billfishes, toothed whales, and some open ocean shark species.
