Although Solo was the last of the Skywalker bloodline, Rey assumed the name “Skywalker” to honor their memory, repudiating her own heritage as a Palpatine.

It wasn’t until an Academy screening of “Rise of Skywalker” after the film’s theatrical opening that Abrams said Finn wanted to tell Rey that he is Force sensitive. This clarification came after Boyega took to social media to declare, “No, Finn wasn’t going to say I love you before sinking!”

Episode IX co-writer Chris Terrio describes Kylo Ren and Rey’s Force dyad as being soulmates in the Force, in which despite being enemies on opposite sides of the war, the Force acts as fate by bringing them together, allowing them to understand each other.

But if Palpatine essentially fathered Anakin through the Force, the Emperor would be the great-grandfather of Kylo Ren and the grandfather of Rey, making the pair first cousins once removed. This means she’s related to Kylo spiritually and through her name, if not biologically.

Reddit user IGotADashCam theorizes that Ben/Kylo didn’t save Rey at all. Instead, it was Leia working through her son – that’s why he disappears so quickly after healing Rey.

So does Finn love Rey? No, not like that. The films and comments made from those involved in making the trilogy have made clear that despite seeming to have some romantic tension between them, there is nothing going on between Rey and Finn.

Many have petitioned Ben Solo to be resurrected due to a lot of reasons, one in which includes Rey’s lack of sadness after his death. And Adam Driver openly said his return to Star Wars is not on the agenda, although he’s grateful for the opportunities and sad to let go of his beloved character.
