She was later on killed by Elijah for having discovered all of his secrets when she entered his mind, but due to the awful things that the Strix had made her do in her time as their witch, Ariane had suffered greatly and died in peace, happy to be finally free of her oath to them.

EW has an exclusive first look at new witch Ariane, played by Haley Ramm. First set to appear in episode 311, Ariane is described as a powerful witch from a coven that practices a particularly dangerous form of dark magic.

In terms of story, why kill Davina? MICHAEL NARDUCCI: We certainly didn’t want to do it. We love the character and we love Danielle [Campbell]. Freya and Elijah realize that the family may suffer more loss if they don’t hijack this power that was meant to bring Davina back and to protect her from the ancestors.

Davina was killed last season after the ancestors cursed Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) to get revenge on Davina for her magical actions. After Freya (Riley Voelkel) tried to use her as a magical conduit, Davina untethered the ancestral world from the physical world and trapped herself there.

6. Davina Claire (Season 3, episode 20) Yes, I counted both times that Davina has died in the show but this time was more permanent (until season 4 that is). Freya and Elijah needed to figure out a way to kill Lucien and that way was to take Davina’s power and take the serum out of Lucien.

And, despite Klaus’ orders to the contrary, Freya and Elijah decided to sacrifice Davina to the Ancestors. Yes, she did it to protect her family, and, yes, she did it so that Klaus could avenge Cami’s death.

While it seemed that Elijah (Daniel Gillies), a.k.a. typically the most even-keeled of the Mikaelson brothers, killed Marcel (the good ol’ heart punch, a tried and true Mikaelson family method), at the end of the episode we found out that wasn’t the case.

Before he knew what he was doing, he had taken so much of Davina’s blood that even when he tried to heal her with his blood, she didn’t move. Even though Davina appeared pretty lifeless at the end of the episode, it’s highly unlikely that Davina is dead.
