The emotional pain created by lies is profound and immense. We suffer and cry due to situations that could have been avoided. However much a truth may hurt, at least it offers us the opportunity to strengthen our ability to make decisions, to analyze things, and to determine our emotional and cognitive identity.

Experts say when people lie, they tend to be more negative because they subconsciously feel guilty about lying. Therefore, their guilt of lying comes out in their lie as anger.

Perhaps the most obvious impact that lying has on a relationship is the erosion of trust one person has in the other. Whether like a storm that causes a landslide, or rain that slowly eats away at rock, lies can utterly change the landscape of a relationship and make it uninhabitable for one or both parties.

Dishonesty creates a false persona. It can create severe personal anxiety, psychological problems, and a general sense of mistrust. People have a hard time trusting those who seem artificial.

Lying is explicitly stating something you know to be false, whereas dishonesty can involve withholding or misrepresenting information. For example: if you’re selling a house, someone might ask if their are any problems with the foundation.

Lying by omission is when a person leaves out important information or fails to correct a pre-existing misconception in order to hide the truth from others. Some people view omissions as more than just white lies, but as outright lying, because by omitting information, you’re no longer being transparent.

Lying Changes the Brain Nature Neuroscience reported a study of the amygdala, the part of the brain dealing with emotional responses. The researchers said the amygdala shows up less and less, as we lie more and more. Essentially, our guilt feelings tend to weaken and shrink.

Proverbs 19:9 – A false witness shall be punished, and a liar shall be caught. Proverbs 21:6 & 8 – A fortune made by people who tell lies amounts to nothing and leads to death. … But the conduct of those who are not guilty is honest.

Take control of the situation by being the first to talk, self-report if you have to. Provide the group with very clear (false) information so as to sound like a member of the crew. Confidently claim that the witness is the killer, and discredit anything they say as lies.

Even if as an imposter you are caught venting by a crewmate, you must NEVER give up. It isn’t over yet. You have to kill them before they report you.
