For Siamese cat owners, their love for their feline friend overcomes the crazy, erratic behavior their cats sometimes display. However, the reason many Siamese cats have bouts of deranged and strangely psychotic behavior is a neurological disease called feline hyperesthesia.

The protective nature of siamese cats stems forth way back from the times they were originally bred in Thailand as temple guardians. Theses cats were positioned on columns to protect the king if anyone posed a threat. Anything unfamiliar or out of routine can trigger the siamese cat to act in defense.

They seek to assert their ownership of any property and consistently protect it from intruders. This helps explain their unfriendly and unwelcoming behavior towards other cats. Another contributing factor to feline aggression is lack of socialization during their “kittenhood”.

So, why are Siamese cats mean? Siamese cats are generally more aggressive and territorial than other breeds. Anger can be attributed to a lack of attention, hunger, hormonal changes, fear of a new environment, and compulsive actions. They normally show aggression to other cats, not humans.

If you see your Maine Coon walking around you with their tail up, usually rubbing themselves against you it is a sure sign that they are very happy and comfortable. They may also be rubbing their pheromones on you to mark you as theirs.

Maine Coons are not known for being destructive, but a fully grown Maine Coon can do a lot of damage. Like most other breeds, if poorly managed, bored and unhappy, a Maine Coon cat can turn your new couch into shreds in the space of one afternoon.
