The CJ is a legend in the Jeep line, garnering quite a bit of respect from people. It was launched in 1944 as a civilian version of the vehicle that won World War II. Know that purchasing a CJ will be expensive because they’ve become classics and are highly sought after by enthusiasts.

The Jeep CJ5 first hit the road in 1964 but had been in production for the military as far back as 1954. This model was the latest in a line of CJ series vehicles that dated back to 1944 with the CJ-1. The CJ5 was a simple, open-air, two-door SUV that underwent several changes during its run from 1955 to 1983.

For tight trails and mud holes, the CJ5 is the better option. Also, you’d prefer the CJ5 if you’re going for a unique vintage look. If you’re tall and want more leg room, the CJ7 is the better choice for you. The same is true if you’re planning to swap the manual transmission for an automatic.

Jeep Wrangler
The last CJs, the CJ-7 and CJ-8, were replaced in 1987 by the Jeep Wrangler. Also available were two-wheel-drive variants, known as DJs.

It started out as a retired postal Jeep (DJ5). I’ve since extensively modified it to be of roughly the same dimensions as the rare Willys CJ6. Frame stretched 18” with lots of hand fabricated body modifications, roll bars, etc. Custom safari top (the only top), new seats & seatbelts, Bluetooth stereo.

One especially unique thing about it is that the jeep was originally a rare DJ-6. “Selling 1 of a kind custom 1966 CJ5 jeep , V6 auto. 6×6, former Holbrook specialty jeep, jolly jeepers rig, new tires,new paint and seats. V6 with turbo 400 transmission, bobcat tracks can be added , front winch.

This is a project. This appears to be a rare Right-hand-drive DJ-5 with the correct 8505025 serial number prefix (as opposed to the DJ-5 Dispatchers made for the post office). We started to restore it but no longer have the time.
