In wake of the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has postponed the counselling process of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2021). It will now begin on May 28, 2021. The GATE exam is conducted for 27 subjects.

What is a good rank in the GATE? A. The GATE rank of below 200 will ensure a seat to the candidate in the leading IITs and IISC. However, the candidates will also have to meet the eligibility criteria along with scores for admission.

IIT Kharagpur is another good Institute offering good placements and have good faculties. Mostly upto GATE 400 rank can apply for Group 2 Institutes mainly in core branches. For Interdisciplinary branches the ranking can go upto 1000. NITIE offer good placements and is at part with other IIT’s.

Otherwise no there is not a single chance to get into IIT at AIR 8000 + general class student. Very less chance. May get lower branch in new iits but that too depend on various other factors. if you belong to SC/ST category then there is a fair chance.

If your rank is < 500: You should apply for IIT-R as its placement records are very good, but if you couldn’t make it go for IIT-G.

There a score range of 500 to 600 can be considered as a good performance in the GATE exam. You can the list of NITs in which you can get admission for a GATE score of 500 to 600.

If your Rank is in between 2000–4000 then you can go for NIT Allahabad, NIT Bhopal, IIT Dhanbad,IIT BHU(2K-3K),DTU ( Best option ). If you are SC/ST category candidate then you get Old IITs and Top NITs also. If your prime motive is do M. Tech then you can go for IITB,IITD,NITC,NITS etc.

People under 1000 rank in gate 2019 can be divided into three categories : People whose rank lies between 500-1000 can explore their career opportunities in new IITs, top NITs and top state level colleges.

For admission into top IITs, the student must score a GATE rank below 200. However, the students having a rank in the range of 600-800 can also get admission into IITs and IIITs. For admission into leading NITs, the students should score a GATE rank in 350-800 range.

To get under AIR 500 – It’s solely depending upon your core conceptual and application based knowledge of your engineering stream, and how efficiently and effectively you practice previous year question papers, mock tests before appearing for main exam, which ultimately decides your double digit or triple digit AIR.

Yes, it seems difficult to attain 100% success in 50 days, but it is not impossible to attain it when you are determined enough for your goals. GATE is one of the toughest exams in our country. It is used to measure the calibre of engineering graduates and is a gateway to get into prestigious IITs or PSUs.

A rank around 500–800 can get you the old IITs if you have done well in your final year project and have a good profile. As of GATE 2017 results, rank at 50 marks should be around 4000. So for general category candidates there are hardly any chances to get into any IIT.

If you belong to general or OBC, then with 50 marks you won’t land in any NITs’. There are chances of getting, Government engineering colleges state funded, there also you will find hard to get the core branches such as the thermal or design.
