He is a child predator who was Jake Heke’s former best friend after he rapes his daughter, Grace. He was portrayed by Cliff Curtis, who also played Firelord Ozai in The Last Airbender.

The mixture of love, tragedy, violence and hope, especially the acting of Rena Owens, make this one of my favorite movies. Once Were Warrriors is a very good film. This is a very deep movie and it leaves me pretty damn depressed after watching it. Saw this movie as a child and it stayed with me so being able to own it now on BD is awesome.

Rena in particular makes your heart bleed for the life she leads and barely tolerates. The ghosts of her proud Maori ancestors are never far from her shoulder.
