Doug murdered him when Frank went to the White House to kill Claire, who had refused to pardon him. Once free of his grip, Claire takes the letter opener and stabs Doug in the torso. She then comforts him as he slowly bleeds to death on the Oval Office floor.

Doug is addicted to Rachel like Alcohol. He knows he will be constantly obsessed with her while she is alive. So he murders poor Rachel.

They do tell most of the the things but then Claire went to her painter lover’s home without informing Frank. She might have guessed what happened with Peter or Zoe but she is also smart enough to not ask Frank about it. So is Claire aware of the fact that Peter was murdered by Frank? Most probably, yes.

In the season finale, she and Frank get into an ugly fight in which she says he is not enough for her; Frank replies that without him, she is nothing. Season three ends with Claire leaving Frank as he prepares to go to the New Hampshire primary.

Later, in “Chapter 71,” we learn the real truth about everyone’s parentage. Yes, Claire is pregnant with the late Frank Underwood’s (Kevin Spacey) child, but that’s not the only mommy shocker. Duncan isn’t Annette’s child at all — his biological mother is a housekeeper who had a one-night fling and became pregnant.

Frank and Claire initially slept in different beds due to conflict and divide in the relationship.

The series finale reveals that Underwood had planned to kill Claire as revenge for abandoning him, and that Stamper poisoned him to stop him from being publicly exposed as a murderer, to “protect the legacy from the man”.

The mystery surrounding Frank’s death, however, cast an intended shadow over the entire season. The confession explains the story Claire had crafted: after finding Frank dead, Claire told the public Frank died by her side in bed from an accidental overdose; she told the audience, however, that he was murdered.

Doug killed Rachel Posner to protect Frank’s secrets, and would seemingly off anyone else if need be. In the series finale, it’s revealed that Doug actually killed Frank, as Frank was about to kill Claire in a fit of rage, and Doug didn’t want his legacy ruined.

In the first two seasons, the audience watches in horror as Frank becomes increasingly evil and increasingly powerful. He is a master manipulator, able to bend people to his will using bribery, coercion, and force.

The kiss they share, with Meechum on Claire’s neck, is all about Power. They are very turned on by manipulating someone into their service. The Underwoods feel they are so good that they can avoid any consequence.

She convinces Frank otherwise, as she evidently has other plans in mind. In Chapter 17, Claire reveals in her interview with CNN that it was McGinnis who sexually assaulted her. However, she embellishes the story after prodding by the interviewer whether or not she has ever been pregnant.

Well, House of Cards character Lucas Goodwin definitely went big this season. Because, yes, in a painfully ironic twist, Lucas was shot and killed by Meechum moments after he shot and (tried to) kill Frank.

Arrested in the sting and manipulated by Stamper through the FBI contact, Goodwin accepts the plea deal they offer after consulting with former colleagues Tom Hammerschmidt and Janine Skorsky. The plea sentences him to 10 years in prison with eligibility for parole after 7 years.
