Rehmat (Chhabi Biswas), a middle-aged fruit seller from Afghanistan comes to Calcutta to hawk his merchandise and befriends a small Bengali girl called Minnie (Tinku Thakur) who reminds him of his own daughter back in Afghanistan.

Over time, Tagore draws out his character as one who forges a bond with the little girl. Rahmat showered fatherly affection on mini. They both had a strong emotional bonding and true friendship between each other . Mini was everyday excited to see what was there in kabuliwala’s bag.
