Simply put, Jason Voorhees wins because he can’t be killed. Not even a rain of bullets or impalement can stop him. Michael might be one tough cookie, but (depending on canon) he’s still mortal. Both are matched in physical strength, but when it comes to durability, Jason takes the win.

The theme of needing to be loved in Carrie by Stephen King is similar to the theme of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In Carrie, all Carrie wants is love from someone. She doesn’t receive love from her family or peers. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry realizes how much he longs for love.

Based on King’s debut novel of the same name from 1974, the 1976 film tells the story of high schooler Carrie White (Sissy Spacek), a bona fide misfit who we meet on the unfortunate day of her first period. Rather, it’s the intense realism that rests at the film’s horrifying core.

While some critics have been led to believe the film to be a feminist rendering of horror cinema with its central female cast, Carrie is problematic for numerous reasons when viewed this way. Where men are killed due to error, women are punished simply for being female (Clover 34).

But overall Carrie is perfect for teens into King’s work, and is a must read for anyone 14+.

Stephen King’s writing is sick. There is no appropriate age for reading IT. You can handle it only if you have read books like this before.
