Back at the house, Horace babysits Katie, but is knocked unconscious by an unknown intruder. He awakens soon and rushes to the party, where he reports that Katie has been kidnapped.

Sully is almost killed, Dr. Quinn miscarries their second child, and Ill Child Anthony dies as a result of kidney failure brought on by sickle cell anemia, leading his parents to nearly split up.

Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman debuted in 1993 and ran for six seasons on CBS. The series was cancelled in 1998 due to production costs, aging viewers, and sagging ratings.

Executive producer Beth Sullivan and fellow Dr. Quinn star Jim Knobeloch (Jake Slicker) were married in real life during the run of the show. They have since divorced. Sully’s dog, “Wolf” was actually played by a number of dogs throughout the entire series.

Sully misses working on the land and dies. Mrs. Sully cannot cope with it and drowns herself in the Hudson River when Sully is ten. After he has lost both his parents, Sully meets Daniel Simon who becomes his best friend.

Marriage–and Sex!– at Last in ‘Dr. Quinn’ Season Finale. In the season finale May 20, Quinn and the outdoorsy Byron Sully (Joe Lando) finally tie the knot.

Jane Seymour is pregnant with twins at 44 but has no intention of giving up work on her highly successful 1860’s prairie TV series, Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman. But it was just what the doctor ordered as otherwise Dr Mike could have ended up being described as a ‘pregnant virgin’.

While much of Dr. Quinn was fictional, some of the events and people were based on historical fact: Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania actually existed and is today part of Drexel University College of Medicine.

Absolutely historically accurate! Last but certainly not least, the romantic aspects of the show: the growing romance between Dr. Quinn and Byron Sully, her adopted son Matthew and first Ingrid, and then the prostitute (what was her name?), and between her daughter.

Lando has been married to his wife Kirsten Barlow since 1997 and they share four kids together — Jack, Christian, Kate, and William. Though he currently lives in California with his family, he really is Sully at heart and loves the outdoors, something he made sure to instill in his children as well.

Quinn ran from 1993 to 1998 on Saturdays and was the last successful Western to air on broadcast TV. For those who don’t remember Dr. Quinn, the series kicked off in 1867 and centered on Michaela Quinn (Seymour), a doctor who moves to Colorado Springs to set up a practice.
