Notes: Chester Irving Barnard is regarded as the spiritual father of the social system school and is one of the pioneer of the behavioural movement.

Though Comte is generally regarded as the “Father of Sociology”, the discipline was formally established by another French thinker, Émile Durkheim (1858–1917), who developed positivism as a foundation to practical social research.

There has been a growing interest in Durkheim, founding father of sociology, since the 1970s.

The simplest reason for the subject being the mother is that sociology studies on the society and humans living in it . Society is the main laboratory where all other subjects like economics, political science etc relays. Hence its called the mother of all social sciences .

Auguste Comte, a founding father of the discipline, referred to sociology as the “Queen of the Sciences” because it embodies the basics of all the other social sciences. The department has developed four distinct programs of study within the sociology major.

It systematically studies all the aspects of society . Economics , Politics, Psychology,Environment,Gender etc are its branches of studies. All other social sciences focus on particular areas . Thus,Sociology is called the mother of all social sciences.

The German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss referred to mathematics as “the Queen of the Sciences”.

Galileo Galilei

An ancient Egyptian physician, Merit-Ptah ( c. 2700 BC), described in an inscription as “chief physician”, is the earliest known female scientist named in the history of science. Agamede was cited by Homer as a healer in ancient Greece before the Trojan War (c. 1194–1184 BC).

Q: Who created modern science? While science is generally thought to have begun with Aristotle and Hippocrates, it is Galileo Galilei who is considered modern science’s father and Sir Isaac Newton who completely revolutionized the methodology.

Aristotle is considered by many to be the first scientist, although the term postdates him by more than two millennia. In Greece in the fourth century BC, he pioneered the techniques of logic, observation, inquiry and demonstration.
