An example of foreshadowing in The Hunger Games is when the announcer, Claudis Templesmith, announced that if you become an allie with the other competor from your district, and you are the last two standing, both of you can win.

In Catching Fire, Peeta lied about Katniss being pregnant to try to protect her from the Games. Katniss said that she miscarried due to an electric shock in the arena. However, during the 15 years after the events of Mockingjay, Katniss became pregnant legitimately.

He is executed for treason in Catching Fire. Right before Katniss is sent up into the arena, she sees the Capitol guards attack Cinna. Katniss suspects that President Snow planned this to throw her off-guard while in the Hunger Games arena. Despite Cinna’s death, his designs live on in the third book, Mockingjay.

Cinna embraces Katniss before she enters the arena. This act causes Katniss to unhinge for a point, fretting that they will kill him for his design of her wedding dress during the interview. They drag him away and, according to Plutarch Heavensbee, he is killed during interrogation.

From the very outset of their time together, Katniss’s relationship with Cinna is affectionate. He’s kind to her, telling her that he’s sorry she was reaped and that he’s going to do everything he can to help her center herself and be prepared for the Games. Cinna is, in essence, Katniss’s best friend in the Capitol.

Haymitch holds her hand as she dies. Later that day, the boy from District 4 is killed in combat with the District 8 boy, and he is killed by the golden squirrels. This makes Haymitch the 2nd tribute left, and the other tribute is a career from District 1.

When he said “there is no district 12” he meant that district 12 is destroyed by the capital just like district 13.

Gale and Beetee developed ticker bombs that would be able to kill more civilians and military personnel, and seemed unphased by the loss of life he was causing. One of these bombs exploded in the same area where Prim was treating the wounded in the Capitol and it killed her.

You might be able to find a definition for Katniss’ character type, but she’s not a Mary Sue. She is severely flawed and scarred mentally by her experiences in the games, almost to the point of mental breakdown on more than one occasion…so, no, she is no Mary Sue.

Katniss fears if she wins the games that she’ll lead a life like Haymitch! But she is afraid that her mother will die and Prim will grow up to fast.

Annie and Finnick Odair’s son was born after his father Finnick’s death. He was conceived shortly after Finnick and Annie’s wedding; therefore, Annie was pregnant when Finnick left to fight against the Capitol for the rebellion. Annie gave birth to her son after Finnick’s death.

Finnick Odair The two had a deep love for each other where Finnick mentored Annie, and most likely did everything to keep her alive. He was out of his mind because Annie had been captured by the Capitol so they could torture her for information about the rebels.
