2021 PCGS Collector Services & Fees

Use a service like the PCGS or NGC. The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) are third-party certification and grading services. Both of these services consistently grade, authenticate, certify, and seal (in a protective display) coins for a small fee.

While certified coins definitely have a number of positive features, some collectors prefer to collect part or all of their collections without certification (known as ‘raw’ or ‘uncertified’ coins).

PCGS offers two different ways to submit coins either by (1) joining the Collectors Club or (2) going through a PCGS Authorized Dealer. Both will get your coins graded. Below are overviews of each method so you can decide which is best for your situation.

In nearly all situations, key date coins in uncirculated condition are worth having professionally graded; especially if you have multiple coins to submit. This will help to reduce the price that you pay per coin, when factoring in shipping and insurance expenses.

The Professional Coin Grading Services (PCGS) and the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) are rated as “Superior” by the Professional Numismatists Guild. ANACS graded coins generally trade at lower premiums than PCGS or NGC graded coins.

We recommend keeping your coins together in the same order as they are written on your submission form by rubber banding them together. Package your coins with bubble wrap or Styrofoam to cushion your prized coins en route to PCGS (please refrain from using unusual packaging).
