Flight Simulator departs from real-world flying in a very significant way: Flying isn’t the only way to move your aircraft in Flight Simulator. You can go directly to an airport of your choice. To increase or decrease the throttle, simply press F2 and F3 from your keyboard. Pressing F3 will increase the Throttle putting more power to the engine, while pressing the F2 will decrease the engine power. However, pressing the F1 will automatically cut off the engine power to 0%.
