17 countries have hosted the World Cup. Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, and Mexico have each hosted twice, while Uruguay, Switzerland, Sweden, Chile, England, Argentina, Spain, the United States, Japan and South Korea (jointly), South Africa, and Russia have each hosted once.

All host countries of the FIFA World Cup are as follows:

• Qatar: 2022.
• Russia: 2018.
• Brazil: 2014.
• South Africa: 2010.
• Germany: 2006.
• Japan/South Korea: 2002.
• United States: 1994.
• Mexico: 1986.

On 14 September 2019, President of Colombia Ivan Duque confirmed Colombia would bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup along with Ecuador and Peru.

Ghana

It will be the first World Cup since 2002 that will be hosted by more than one nation, and the first by more than two. With its past hosting of the 1970 and 1986 tournaments, Mexico will become the first country to host or co-host the men’s World Cups three times.

India only have a mathematical chance to advance but a number 3 finish in Group E will help them clinch a berth in the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers. Qatar will host the Indian football team’s remaining 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier ties when they resume in June.
