In order to craft the Fat Man, you will need a workbench, the blueprints for the weapon, your Gunsmith at level five, and Demolition Expert at level one. This weapon can also be obtained via random loot drops from quests and exploration.

Another clue as to how to gain entrance can be found in the form of a raider’s note. In any case, the next step is to personally drop a nuke on Monongah Mine, triggering the event quest A Colossal Problem, thus gaining access to the mine’s interior.

Stupid question: how do you get into Monongah Mine after it’s nuked? You have to fast travel into the event when it pops (exclamation mark). It doesn’t allow walk-ins.

In order to begin “A Colossal Problem”, players must first drop a nuke on Monongah Mine in the Savage Divide. After launching your Nuke, a Public Event Icon will appear on the Map and all players will receive a notification that “A Colossal Problem” has begun.
