It is found in underground caverns on moons. Players must unlock the liquid collection upgrade for their Matter Manipulator before they can gather liquid fuel. Alternatively, it can be purchased from Infinity Express at the Outpost, or looted from industrial canisters found in certain NPC ships and space encounters.

You should pretty much always use the beacon. You want to get moving as soon as possible. If I’m running out of fuel, I always try to land in a nebula. Fleet movement is much slower, so you could technically even profit from running out of fuel.

Adv. “Allows the ship to jump to any previously visited Beacon.”

There is a console right behind the cockpit seat. Pressing “E” next to it will open the dialog to drop the fuel into. Once you drop fuel into one of the slots, click the “Fuel” button, and it will convert the material into Fuel, that you can then use to warp to another planet or system.

20 Core Fragments must be obtained to repair the engines and 20 Erchius Crystals must be obtained to repair the FTL Drive. While Core Fragments are naturally generated on some worlds, Erchius Crystals are initially only available by completing the Erchius Mining Facility Quest.

The Reverse Ion Field is great against Engi vessels or some rebel auto scout, but I tend to find teh Boss misses with all his Ion weapons if you have 3/4 to full engines powered up. Out of the two I would go for the Reverse Ion Field. But if you could get a Advanced FTL Engine that is EXCELLENT for teh end boos area!

I consider it an addition catering towards the already well versed in FTL. The game is made harder, both by adding a much requested hard mode, and with the new gameplay mechanics, scenarios, and weapons. Even on easy, Advanced edition is way harder than normal FTL.

Do the main storyline missions. Unlock and complete the Erchius Mining Facility Mission which is accessed from your ship’s control panel. Return to the Outpost to repair your ship.
