For a Blue Mountains snow experience in the upper mountains suburb of Mount Victoria, head to Mount Victoria Memorial Park. The park is central in the village and on the corner of the Great Western Highway and Station Street.

Orange in NSW’s Central West, Oberon in the Central Tablelands and, closest to Metropolitan Sydney, Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, have all recorded notable levels of snowfall. In fact, most places above elevations of 800 metres above sea level have experienced some degree of snow in the past 48-hours.

In Katoomba snow falls on average one to two times a year in winter. The snow only endures on the ground for a few hours at most if that, so you have to be in the area at the time to see it. In Mount Victoria, higher up, you might see snow three times a year, but a little lower down in Leura, perhaps once a year.

The shore in Collingwood is mostly flat rock, unlike Wasaga. The only real beach, though small, would be Sunset Point Beach at Raglan and St. Lawrence.

It’s estimated that there are from 3 – 6 Snow days currently per year, with a couple of those just “flurries” of snow, not really settling, even at the higher altitudes.

Blue Mountain Snowdrifter’s club joined the OFSC in 1973. The 103km of trails are just south of the town of Collingwood in the Georgian Bay area. We are a volunteer club located in District 8 of the Ontario Federation Snowmobile Club.
