Most probably, some of your objects are locked. Try Object > Unlock All ( Alt + Ctrl/Cmd + 2 ) to unlock everthing that’s been locked. You can also use the Layers palette to unlock objects or groups. Every object and group has a an ‘eye’ icon and an empty square in front of its entry in this palette.

Well if you open your Color palette (Window>Color), you’ll most likely find that it’s set to grayscale. (like below) Then the most probable reason is that you are using the wrong color scheme for this purpose. Some of the color schemes give different colors on the virtual screen and different colors on the print sheet.

Show/Hide Artboards The shortcut key in Mac is CMD + Shift + H and for Windows, it is Ctrl + Shift + H. The max possible printable area in Illustrator is bound by solid lines enclosing the canvas area. You can show/hide them using the above-mentioned shortcut command.

One of my favorite tricks to use in Illustrator which I forgot to mention in my “favorite Illustrator tips” blog is Ctrl-D (Command-D), which allows you to duplicate your last transformation and is especially useful when you’re copying objects and want them to be spaced an exact distance apart

An easier and faster way to select Free Transform is with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T (Win) / Command+T (Mac) (think “T” for “Transform”).

An object can be duplicated in Adobe Illustrator by copying it (Command / Ctrl + C) and pasting it to the front (Command / Ctrl + F) and to the back (Command / Ctrl + B). A new object will be located above or beneath our original object and the contours of both objects will match

If you have a 2-in-1 laptop + tablet combo, then the Windows + D shortcut could also stop working because you’re accidentally still in tablet mode. Try putting your 2-in-1 back into tablet mode by flipping the screen, then exit tablet mode by flipping it back. Windows + D will start working again.

What you can try to do is :

1. Try to press the F11 key and see if it will turn on your numlock keys.
2. If not you can try to press Fn F11 on your keyboard and see if it will turn on your numlock.

On an HP laptop, press the Fn + C key combination to turn Scroll Lock on and off
