Trulance can be taken any time of the day, with or without food. You shouldn’t have to plan your day around your medication. Trulance helps you take control of your schedule with flexible dosing.

Lubricant laxatives promote the passage of stool through the bowel by coating the stool in a waterproof film. This allows the stool to both hold on to its moisture and to move more easily through the bowel. Lubricant laxatives take 6 to 8 hours to take effect.

This medicine typically takes anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours to kick in.

Conditions treated by Trulance and Linzess These prescription-medications are not laxatives. They do not provide instant relief from constipation. Results are typically observed after a week of treatment with Trulance and Linzess. They are generally safe for long-term use.

When LINZESS is taken daily, constipation relief is typically felt in about 1 week. IBS-C patients may begin to experience relief of belly pain and overall abdominal symptoms* (pain, discomfort, and bloating) in about 1 week, with symptoms typically improving over 12 weeks.

Note: Linzess is not a laxative and does not start working immediately. Most people will begin to feel relief from their chronic constipation symptoms about a week after starting Linzess, and IBS-C patients typically see improvements in their medical condition over the course of 12 weeks.

To reduce the risk of gastrointestinal intolerance, linaclotide should be taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes prior to the first meal of the day. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs.

Emollient Laxatives: These stool softeners work by allowing water & fat to penetrate to the stool & making it pass easily through the digestive system. Time of Action: They take around 12 to 72 hours to bring about the effect.

Lubricant laxatives work similarly as stool softeners. The difference is that these laxatives use mineral oil to coat the wall of the bowel instead of focusing on the stool. This will make passing stools easier, and decrease the energy you have to exert.

Stimulant Laxatives: These laxatives produce the action by stimulating the lining of the intestine & expelling the stool out of the body easily. Time of Action: They are known provide very quick relief

The side effects of bulk-forming laxatives are relatively tame. Most commonly, these will lead to bloating, discomfort, and gas. Make sure you stay hydrated on these laxatives, as they tend to cause you to hold water. Lubricant laxatives work similarly as stool softeners.
