Supporters of the movement subsequently had a major impact on the internal politics of the Republican Party. Although the Tea Party is not a political party in the classic sense of the word, some research suggests that members of the Tea Party Caucus vote like a significantly farther right third party in Congress.

The name “Tea Party” comes from the Boston Tea Party, a protest by colonists who objected to a British tax on tea in 1773. Some say that the Tea in “Tea Party” also stands for “Taxed Enough Already”. The Tea Party movement has caucuses (groups) in the House of Representatives and the Senate of the United States.

In simplest terms, the Boston Tea Party happened as a result of “taxation without representation”, yet the cause is more complex than that. In response to the smuggling, in 1767 Parliament passed the Indemnity Act, which repealed the tax on tea and made British tea the same price as the Dutch.

Mass shootings in Austin, Texas, and Kenosha, Wisconsin, left at least six people dead on Sunday. Police, including SWAT teams, swarmed the parking lot of an apartment complex in Austin after gunfire left two women and a man dead shortly before noon.

Patriots’ Day is an annual holiday commemorated on the third Monday of April. It commemorates the Battle of Lexington and the Battle of Concord which took place on April 19, 1775, and were the first battles fought in the American Revolutionary War.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced that if road races are allowed to take place as part of the Massachusetts reopening plan, the 125th Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021.
