Famed British police drama The Bill could return to screens after more than 10 years away, according to reports. After writers acquired the original rights to the hit show, two new series are thought to be in the works, according to The Sun.

On 26 March 2010, ITV announced that it would be cancelling the series later that year after 26 years on air. ITV said that this decision reflected the “changing tastes” of viewers. The last episode of The Bill was filmed in June 2010 and broadcast on 31 August 2010 followed by a documentary titled Farewell The Bill.

A reboot for The Bill is currently in development. Plans are in place to revive the hit ITV police drama – but it has not yet been greenlit. It’s reported that the project – which is being written by Simon Sansome – will be titled Sun Hill, after the police station from the original run.

The Bill is set to make a huge comeback to television in 2021 with three original characters. The classic cop drama that aired for 26 series from 1983 until 2010 on ITV looks to be making a return.

After Kidnap and Return It was revealed mid season 21 that Abigail had given birth to a girl named Rose. She made one final appearance in season 25’s To Die For to go for a drink with Sam to celebrate her transfer to Child Protection.

Notably, Phil Hunter and DS Stuart Turner, who often squabbled over her, seemed in competition. Sam ended up sleeping with both of them and at times, brought rows into the office. Overall, Sam was a fantastic Cop and respected for the job she did. Sam later transferred out of Sun Hill.

1987: The Death of June’s Dad The news of his death badly affected June, causing her to get drunk while on an undercover operation at a hotel. Sgt. Penny and Sgt. Cryer had to hide her in a sauna until she sobered up to prevent her from affecting the operation.

When Smithy brought June to the hospital, she recognized her son immediately and identified him as the real Gabriel Kent. June then explained to Smithy how she had her son when she was fifteen following a rape and was forced to give him up by her parents.

In the new season Brenda Blethyn would be resuming her part as Vera once more, but she’ll be entering a better companion this year. David Leon, got to play Vera’s committed right player, Joe Ashworth, quit the series as his personality was eventually promoted.

TENSE moment the killer is revealed on Vera In the end, it emerged that the killer of the young woman was in fact Vicki Hogarth (Georgia Maguire), whose sister Beth had been bullied by Gemma and consequently developed bulimia.

‘In the final episode of this series there are weapons involved, someone is shot and Vera gives Aiden a heart attack by putting herself in a very dangerous situation.

Blethyn brought much-needed grit and heart to an ending that was indeed shocking – though principally for the fact that series character DC Bethany Whelan (Cush Jumbo) was shot in the back and killed for no apparent good reason other than to give the dénouement a bit of extra punch.

Kenny is married to actress Caroline Carver. She is particularly known for her roles in The Aryan Couple, Holby City and My First Wedding.

Brenda was previously married to Alan James Blethyn, a graphic designer she met while working for British Rail in 1964. Their marriage ended in 1973, but Brenda kept her husband’s surname for professional reasons. She met British art director Michael Mayhew three decades ago and the couple have been married since 2010.
