The show is very loosely based on the historical events leading up to and surrounding the Battle of Teutoburg Forest in 9 CE, in which an alliance of several Germanic tribes won a crushing victory against the Romans and destroyed three whole Roman legions.

Is Barbarians on Netflix Based on a True Story? It certainly is. Barbarians is based on the real Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Much like in the series, this pivotal battle happened under the cover of night when an alliance of Germanic tribes targeted the Roman forces that oppressed them.

Barbarians is nothing we haven’t seen before, but it’ll quench your bloodthirst, and it’s good for a guffaw or two. There’d better be a gruesome battle in episode two, though, or we might just tune out.

Netflix has approved the second season of Barbarians. We will be able to watch the new season of the series by the end of 2021 with the most optimistic forecast, and most possible in 2022

Everyone that wasn’t a part of Greco-Roman culture would be. The Goths, Vandals, and various vikings groups, were all Germanic tribes as they spoke Germanic languages. Vikings were also considered barbarians because they were predators who pillaged, raped, enslaved and murdered their way through Europe.

Upon some research, it was discovered that, yes, Barbarians on Netflix is in English. However, English is a dubbed language in the series.

Vikings were far from the only ones to plunder and they did not do it to kill innocent people or sate some sort of bloodlust. They raided and plundered to gain a higher social status, to gain silver to buy food for their families and to capture slaves to work the fields instead of their wives and children.

The faces of men and women in the Viking Age were more alike than they are today. The women’s faces were more masculine than women’s today, with prominent brow ridges. On the other hand, the Viking man’s appearance was more feminine than that of men today, with a less prominent jaw and brow ridges.
