The Nuremberg Trials were held for the purpose of bringing Nazi war criminals to justice. The Nazi War Criminals killed 6 million european Jews and 4 to 6 million non-jews. The point of the trials was for the Nazi’s to be tried for their crimes not immediately executed.

The Nuremberg Trial and the Tokyo War Crimes Trials (1945–1948) Following World War II, the victorious Allied governments established the first international criminal tribunals to prosecute high-level political officials and military authorities for war crimes and other wartime atrocities.

Verdict and Executions. On October 1, 1946, the Tribunal convicted 19 of the defendants and acquitted three. Of those convicted, 12 were sentenced to death. Three defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment and four to prison terms ranging from 10 to 20 years.

Consequently, the most important legacies of the IMT were its punishment of the worst Nazi offenders, its irrefutable documentation of Nazi crimes, and its discrediting of the Nazi Party among most of the German population.

The trials were most notable for the prosecution of prominent members of the political, military, judicial, and economic leadership of Nazi Germany, who planned, carried out, or otherwise participated in the Holocaust and other war crimes.

Some facilities say signed informed consent forms are valid for 30 days, or the duration of the patient’s hospital stay. Others state that a patient’s informed consent is active until a patient revokes it, or the patient’s condition changes.

A lack of informed consent refers to a physician or hospital neglecting to provide a patient appropriate information about the risks, benefits and alternatives to a surgery or treatment with medication in a non-emergency setting.
