There were several factors that led to the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828. Jackson believed that election was stolen from him by a deal he believed was made between John Q. Adams and Henry Clay. This deal, called the Corrupt Bargain, had Clay support Adams in return for Adams making Clay the Secretary of State.
