The couple returned to Ithaca, and Penelope bore Odysseus a son named Telemachus. The Trojan War. When the Trojan War began, Odysseus tried to avoid participating. An oracle had told him that if he went to war, he would be away for 20 years and would return a beggar.

According to classical sources, the war began after the abduction (or elopement) of Queen Helen of Sparta by the Trojan prince Paris. Helen’s jilted husband Menelaus convinced his brother Agamemnon, king of Mycenae, to lead an expedition to retrieve her.

Achilles’ only weakness was his heel. According to legend, his mother had taken him to the River Styx, which was supposed to offer powers of invincibility, and dipped his body into the water

Achilles was dipped in the River Styx by his mother Thetis, who held the infant by the heel, which stayed dry. That’s why Thetis didn’t flip him over.

Hera

According to other accounts, Thetis endeavored to make Achilles immortal by dipping him in the river Styx, and succeeded with the exception of the ankles, by which she held him, 23 while others again state that she put him in boiling water to test his immortality, and that he was found immortal except at the ankles.1997年3月3日

How did Achilles die? According to legend, the Trojan prince Paris killed Achilles by shooting him in the heel with an arrow.

Paris of Troy was presumably an adult at the time of the marriage of Peleus and Thetis and the Judgement of Paris. That would mean Paris was at least 15-20 years older than Achilles.

According to Virgil, most of the Trojans we know as characters in Aeneid die in the end. As for the Trojans, most of the men were killed, and most of the women were taken as captives by the invading Greeks. The rest were taken prisoner and brought back to Greece with Agamemnon and his army

Paris, also called Alexandros (Greek: “Defender”), in Greek legend, son of King Priam of Troy and his wife, Hecuba. A dream regarding his birth was interpreted as an evil portent, and he was consequently expelled from his family as an infant. After his identity was revealed, he was received home again by Priam.

According to a variant of the story, Helen, in widowhood, was driven out by her stepsons and fled to Rhodes, where she was hanged by the Rhodian queen Polyxo in revenge for the death of her husband, Tlepolemus, in the Trojan War.

Another account mentions that Helen and Paris had three kids—Bunomus, Corythus, and Idaeus—but sadly, these boys died when the roof of the family home in Troy collapsed

She was married to Menelaus, king of Sparta. Paris, son of King Priam of Troy, fell in love with Helen and abducted her, taking her back to Troy. The Greeks assembled a great army, led by Menelaus’s brother, Agamemnon, to retrieve Helen

Menelaus and Helen rule in Sparta for at least ten years; they have a daughter, Hermione, and (according to some myths) three sons: Aethiolas, Maraphius, and Pleisthenes. The marriage of Helen and Menelaus marks the beginning of the end of the age of heroes.

Menelaus soundly beats Paris, but before he can kill him and claim victory, Aphrodite spirits Paris away inside the walls of Troy. In Book 4, while the Greeks and Trojans squabble over the duel’s winner, Athena inspires the Trojan Pandarus to shoot Menelaus with his bow and arrow.

She asked her father to kill Andromache while Neoptolemus was away at war, but when he chose not to go through with the murder, Hermione fled from Epirus with her cousin Orestes. Hermione and Orestes were married, and she gave birth to his heir Tisamenus.

Helen’s appearance was similar to the immortal goddesses and Aphrodite used to describe her as the “most beautiful woman in the world”. She had a good-looking body and dressed nicely. Her hands were white and she had a beautiful face.
