The current-gen Grand Cherokee is sold in multiple trims with several tire sizes:

under the back seats, jack is under the driver’s side backseat, tire iron & rods are under passenger’s side backseat.

Front Jacking Location For a rear tire, place the jack in the slot on the rear tie-down bracket, just forward of the rear tire (as indicated by the triangular lift point symbol on the sill molding). Do not raise the vehicle until you are sure the jack is fully engaged.

• The Laredo and Limited models come with 17-inch wheels bearing 245/70R17 wheels or with 18-inch or 20-inch wheels with 265/60R18 sized tires.
• The Trailhawk model comes standard with 18-inch wheels.

You should see a secret door with a handle. Open the door, and inside You will find a plastic compartment. Pull upward on the compartment, and underneath You should find Your tire jack.

Where is the Jeep tool kit located? Best of all, the Wrangler provides a custom-suitable storage holder for all this hardware. The little storage compartment in the back lift up the cargo floor and holes are pre-made and labeled within the plastic tray located underneath.

Grab the Jeep Tool Kit that comes with the JL Wrangler to get started. This comes with a small ratchet, T40 Torx bit, and T50 Torx bit. For the JL Wrangler, Jeep included a new door catch that eliminates the door from freely opening and closing, so there will be an extra bolt to remove on the inside of each door.

The kit includes a min socket, a T40 and T50 Torx bits and an M15 socket. The T40 is used for the various parts of the soft top, while the T50’s main job is removing the bolts holding the door hinges in place.

Using the Torx 40 bit and ratchet, remove the single bolt holding it against the jamb and move the arm out of the way. Moving to the outside of the door, find the bolts that thread upward from below into each external door hinge and remove them using the Torx 50 head and ratchet.

You need a Torx bit, a T40 if memory recalls correctly. Actually you should just buy a set of them, almost everything on your Jeep requires a Torx bit. It’s a good thing to have a variety of sizes. There are 6 bolts, 3 on each side.

Today, only the Torx company can use the name Torx, but there are “generics” now which have a physically identical design. The “generics” typically refer to that design as a star bit or head. The “generic” star should be physically identical to the Torx design.
