Citronella, eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree, and rosemary will all naturally repel fleas. If your dog doesn’t mind a spray bottle, dilute a few drops of your chosen essential oil into a 300ml-400ml of water and spray directly onto your dog’s coat.

Tobacco turns out to be an effective remedy against ticks and fleas. Tobacco leaves can potentially be a great natural substance to get rid of ticks and fleas and at the same time, it can prevent further infestation as well.

Fleas are rarely off the host animal, so I am not certain what you saw, but they probably were not fleas. You can pack up your things and move to the new place and not worry, fleas do not leave the host animal and the larvae would not be in anything you are packing and taking with you.
