Level 3/4
The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3/4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) is an initial teacher training qualification, studied at QCF Level 3 or 4, for teaching in Further Education (FE) and the lifelong learning sector of education in the United Kingdom.

The Certificate OF Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTTLS) is NOW CET. The CET (Certificate in Education and Training) has now replaced the CTTLS qualification.

Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) Also sometimes referred to as a PGCE (PCET) or Cert Ed by universities who offered it. DTLLS is still regarded as a full teaching qualification for the sector although most providers have now moved to offering the DET (see above).

The AET Award is a mandatory minimum qualification for all those teaching in the Learning and Skills Sector and replaces the old PTLLS qualification.

The PTLLS is currently the lowest of the teaching qualifications specifically for this sector of education, with others being the QCF Level 3/4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) and the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) qualifications.

You want to be able to teach adults It is recognised as the minimum qualification required for people who want to start teaching. The Level 3 AET will give you the skills and tools to enable you to teach a group of adults, using a variety of methods.

Is an Award in Education and Training a legal requirement? The AET Qualification is not a legal requirement, but most organisations and employers only hire individuals who have this award. Therefore, if you are interested in teaching within the post-16 sector, it is highly recommend.
