A bicycle or skateboard in motion possesses kinetic energy. Running water has kinetic energy and it is used to run water mills. Moving air has K.E and is used to derives windmills and push sailing boats, similarly, a bullet fired from a gun has kinetic energy and can penetrate into a target because of its K.E.

Wind energy

In meteorology, wind refers to the velocity of air. Its magnitude is called wind speed and has units of m s−1. Related quantities are momentum (mass times wind) and kinetic energy (wind times half momentum), but they are not wind. Air has mass and thus it has weight as well.

The kinetic energy can be harnessed; much like some hydropower technologies harness water movement. A way to convert this kinetic energy into electric energy is through piezoelectricity. By applying a mechanical stress to a piezoelectric crystal or material an electric current will be created and can be harvested.
