It was diet. Gigantopithecus, a giant ape once described as a real-life King Kong, went extinct because it couldn’t adapt to a changing food landscape, according to new research published in the journal Quaternary International.

THE VERDICT: Godzilla wins It’s obvious that Godzilla and Kong both have significant strengths, any one of which could provide them with a winning move in the event of a fight.

All the creatures in Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong do not appear to be any real species of animal, but do resemble certain ones. The companion book The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island, elaborates on this stating that they are fictional descendants of real animals.

Of course, the King Kong that fought dinosaurs and climbed the Empire State Building is the stuff of fiction. But scientists say that a giant, King Kong-like ape did once exist. Admittedly, that’s a fraction of the fictional Kong’s stature, but Gigantopithecus is still the largest ape the world has ever seen.

But Godzilla kept pulling him back into the depths, and it was eventually too much. Kong was alive, but humbled, as Godzilla swam away. Obviously, Godzilla won round 1. The movie itself splits the second round — the fight in Hong Kong at the end — in half, but I don’t like that.

The King Kong (キングコング, Kingu Kongu?) of the Showa era is a giant ape kaiju created by RKO Pictures that made his first appearance in the 1962 Godzilla film, King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Based on popular usage, it is 1.139 times more common for Kong to be a girl’s name.

ScreenRant describes him as a “young ape” who, in the 54 years between 1973 and 2017, “has grown to Godzilla-size”. This leads them to speculate that Kong might not be much over a century old. Interestingly, Fandom claims that Kong’s year of birth is 1933, which would make him 88 this year.

Godzilla, Kong was 148 feet tall, compared to just 25ft tall in Peter Jackson’s 2005 film King Kong, according to online estimates. In 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, the great primate was around 104ft; almost four times smaller than the current iteration of Godzilla, who clocks in at 393ft.

Shin Godzilla possesses extreme regeneration, that makes it practically immortal. Godzilla can make himself undergo cellular division and fission processes, allowing near-instant regeneration.

Such Titans are typically classified as “protectors,” and include the likes of Godzilla, Kong, and Mothra. Other more malevolent Titans are classified as “destroyers,” such as King Ghidorah, Rodan, and Scylla.

Shin Godzilla is definitely one of the most powerful. But currently, it can’t even hold a candle to THE most powerful Godzilla incarnation: Godzilla Earth. Unlike Godzilla Earth, Shin Godzilla has problems with overheating it’s own body, hence it’s amphibious/dormant life.

Legendary is closer to the Power Rangers giant monster as later Godzilla movies adopted. He is absurdly fast, strong and durable. Legendary Godzilla is maintaining balance while Shin is just destruction.
