The WCRA is a professional sport and entertainment entity, created to develop and advance the sport of rodeo by aligning all levels of competition. In association with PBR, WCRA produces major rodeo events, developing additional opportunities for rodeo industry competitors, stakeholders and fans.

“My son is 13 and he’s thrilled, since it’s his first time going too.” Earning a qualifying time in every event, their six-member team qualified in mid-August for the WRCA’s World Championship Ranch Rodeo which will be held Nov. 12-15 in Amarillo, Texas.

Events will include: doctoring sick cattle, gathering strays, sorting and penning cattle, branding calves, and milking a wild cow (a real crowd pleaser). Occasionally, riding a bronc or other ranch jobs might be included. Each Ranch Rodeo is a little different from the previous one.

A ranch rodeo is a traditional type of rodeo in which teams of cowboys or cowgirls from different ranches compete against each other in events based on the type of work they do every day. Instead of competing as individuals, the contestants in ranch rodeos compete as a team representing the ranch they work for.

Working Ranch Cowboys Association
In March of 1995, a group of people from across the western United States created the Working Ranch Cowboys Association. WRCA produces the World Championship Ranch Rodeo as a means to showcase the skills of the working ranch cowboy and to raise funds for the WRCA Foundation.

Rider must ride for 8 seconds and in an everyday working saddle. There will not be a mark out rule. Riders may use saddle horn but NO night latch but may receive more points for riding free handed or for spurring the horse. Horses will be chute drawn in the order they are randomly loaded.
