These letters written by John the ‘loved’ disciple teach us how to love as God loves, walk in the light, and to show hospitality to other believers. John tells the churches in Ephesus that Jesus did come in human form.

1-3 John reminds Jesus followers to reflect God’s light and love as they stay true to their beliefs amidst false teachers who are spreading fear. John calls followers of Jesus to share in God’s own life and love by devoting themselves to loving one another.

Chapter 3 of John explains the main belief of the Christian faith. This chapter details how Jesus came into the world so that mankind would know the nature and character of God. It also refutes many of the long-held beliefs the Jews had had about God being an angry punishing God.

John 2 is the second chapter of the Gospel of John in the New Testament of the Christian Bible. It contains the famous stories of the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine and Jesus expelling the money changers from the Temple.

The main themes of the epistle are love and fellowship with God. The author describes various tests by which readers may ascertain whether or not their communion with God is genuine, and teaches that the proof of spiritual regeneration is a life of active righteousness.

Jesus: Judean man of mystery. But his mom doesn’t really listen (typical) and tells the servants at the wedding that they need to follow Jesus’ instructions.

As with 1 John, John apparently wrote this epistle to respond to false teachings that Jesus Christ did not literally come to earth in the flesh. He explained that members who taught that Christ did not have a physical body should not be received into one’s house, or congregation (see 2 John 1:7–10).

John the Evangelist
The Second Epistle of John, often referred to as Second John and often written 2 John or II John, is a book of the New Testament attributed to John the Evangelist, traditionally thought to be the author of the other two epistles of John, and the Gospel of John (though this is disputed).

John in the Bible. The Third Epistle of John, often referred to as Third John and written 3 John or III John, is the antepenultimate book of the New Testament and attributed to John the Evangelist, traditionally thought to be the author of the Gospel of John and the other two epistles of John.

Summary of 1 John. The book of 1 John is a series of General Letters to the believers of Christ. The purpose of the letters were to combat false teachings. In Chapters 1-2: John reassures believers explaining, “…God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). He explained that if sins were confessed, those sinners would be made whole.

Theme of 3 John. The theme of 3 John is faithfulness despite opposition. The man who received the letter, Gaius, faces a troublemaker named Diotrephes.

Summary The Gospel of John is the latest-written of the four biographies of Jesus that have been preserved in the New Testament. The purpose of this gospel, as stated by John himself, is to show that Jesus of Nazareth was Christ, the Son of God, and that believers in him might have eternal life.
