“Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” “Nothing in life is to be feared.

The poet, Robert Frost, through this poem asserts the importance of the right decision at the right time. In life we have to make our choices; sometimes we have to make these choices without the full understanding of the state of affairs.

Fear is an important theme in Native Son. Fear also plays an important role in the way that society is organized: namely, it is the white community’s fear of black people that causes them to seek to control them. Below, we look at examples of both types of fear.

This list could go on and on, because the fear does.

• Fear #2: Avoiding death for the wrong reasons.
• Fear #3: Hunger or other severe physical deprivation.
• Fear #4: Killing or causing the death of someone you love.
• Fear #5: Being rejected and/or being loved by the wrong person.
• Fear #6: Illness, disease and aging.

One important theme of Paley’s short story “Anxiety” is taken directly from the title. Paley’s protagonist is so anxious about the future that she sits and watches the world from her window.

Fear Has Two Meanings: Forget Everything and Run or Face Everything and Rise. The Choice Is Yours.

The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist.

“Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice, for the LORD has done great things!” “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

As the Lord himself says, “Fear not, for I am with you.” Faith in God as Lord of all gives us confidence that he will do exactly as he says, if we only believe in him as he asks. He will strengthen us and he will help us through all situations in life.

Drawing from the teachings of a Jewish Rabbi and the Hebrew language, Tara pointed out that there are two types of fear, Pachad and Yirah and they provide two different ways to think about fear.

Learned fears Spiders, snakes, the dark – these are called natural fears, developed at a young age, influenced by our environment and culture.
