On the command “Halt,” one more step is taken with the right (left) foot, and the left (right) foot is placed smartly alongside the right (left) foot as in the position of attention.

In the examples of imperative sentences here, you’ll note that each line is issuing a command of some sort:

• Pass the salt.
• Move out of my way!
• Shut the front door.
• Find my leather jacket.
• Be there at five.
• Clean your room.
• Complete these by tomorrow.
• Consider the red dress.

Command words are the words and phrases used in exams and other assessment tasks that tell students how they should answer the question.

The components of an entered command may be categorized into one of four types: command, option, option argument and command argument. The program or command to run. It is the first word in the overall command.

The command of execution tells when the movement is to be carried out. In the command “Forward, march,” the preparatory command is “Forward,” and the command of execution is “March.” Attention: Figure 9-2 illustrates the position of attention.

Parade rest is commanded only from the position of attention. Keep the head and eyes as in the position of attention. Remain silent and do not move unless otherwise directed.

Thirty-six commands have to be given during the entire parade. These must be given in a very loud voice so that it is heard till the rear. The voice should also reach the spectators sitting on the other side of the ground.

Hand salute The command is “Hand, salute.” On the command “Salute,” you raise the right hand smartly in the most direct manner while at the same time extending and joining the fingers. Keep the palm flat and facing the body.

Specifically, a proper salute goes as follows: Raise the right hand sharply, fingers and thumb extended and joined, palm facing down, and place the tip of the right forefinger on the rim of the visor, slightly to the right of the eye.

Civilians should not salute the American Flag with a military salute. The military salute is considered a privilege earned by those who have served in the Armed Forces and is reserved for official protocols. Civilians should follow specific etiquette during the National Anthem.
