The narrator describes Gatsby as having something gorgeous about him. He also says that Gatsby is optimistic about life, has an extraordinary gift for hope, and is romantic in a way that no one else is.

Nick Carraway seems to be the perfect choice to narrate the novel. He is the cousin of Daisy Buchanan, he was in the same senior society as Tom Buchanan at Yale, and he rented a house right next to Jay Gatsby. He knows all the characters well enough to be present at the crucial scenes in the novel.

Nick is also Daisy’s cousin, which enables him to observe and assist the resurgent love affair between Daisy and Gatsby. As a result of his relationship to these two characters, Nick is the perfect choice to narrate the novel, which functions as a personal memoir of his experiences with Gatsby in the summer of 1922.

What does he finally conclude about himself? Jordan is dishonest and when she moves the ball in the sand she lyed about that. She lies because it gives her power. She is also a bad driver.

At the end of chapter 3, Nick concludes in his narration, “I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known.” This conclusion comes after his admonishment to Jordan about her terrible driving. She responds that she hates careless people and that’s why she likes him, implying that he isn’t careless.

Daisy Buchanan, Nick’s cousin, Tom’s wife, and Gatsby’s first love, has a unique lie. She does not tell it directly, but she lies by omitting the truth. She is, in fact, the person who was driving the car that accidentally hit and killed Myrtle Wilson. However, she does not reveal this truth.
