Kingdom of God, also called Kingdom Of Heaven, in Christianity, the spiritual realm over which God reigns as king, or the fulfillment on Earth of God’s will. The phrase occurs frequently in the New Testament, primarily used by Jesus Christ in the first three Gospels.

According to all four canonical gospels of the New Testament, as well as the account of the Jewish historian Josephus, John the Baptist was killed on the orders of a local ruler sometime before Jesus’ crucifixion. The gospels claim the king had him beheaded, and his head put on a platter.

According to the post-biblical Jewish Midrash, eight people went to (or will go to) heaven (also referred to as the Garden of Eden and paradise) alive: Enoch, Noah’s great grandfather (Genesis 5:22–24) Elijah (2 Kings 2:11) Serah, daughter of Asher, son of Jacob (Midrash Yalkut Shimoni (Yechezkel 367))

He is believed to be the Jewish messiah who is prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, which is called the Old Testament in Christianity. It is believed that through his Crucifixion and subsequent Resurrection, God offered humans salvation and eternal life, that Jesus died to atone for sin to make humanity right with God.

(There are three things which tempt us, the flesh, the world, and the devil.)

He finds the standard explanation hard to believe as Matthew uses the word “God” many other times and even uses the phrase “kingdom of God” four times.

Its characteristics and values could be as follows:

• faith.
• simplicity of a child / purity.
• belongs to those who suffer.
• love God and love your neighbour.
• honesty / truth.
• humility.
• joy in others’ achievements.
• wealth and ambition must be sacrificed.

Then came these striking words: “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21) With these words, Jesus gave voice to a teaching that is universal and timeless.

Jesus taught His disciples how to pray (the Lord’s prayer), He prayed for the little children when they were brought to Him, He prayed with Peter, James, and John, and He prayed alone. He also taught His disciples to love sinners and He demonstrated what that looked like by eating with them.

It is primarily God’s dwelling place in the biblical tradition: a parallel realm where everything operates according to God’s will. Heaven is a place of peace, love, community, and worship, where God is surrounded by a heavenly court and other heavenly beings.
