The main difference between the 1157 taillight bulb and the 2057 is that the 2057 draws about 30% less current when using the running lights. Whereas a 1157/3157 contains two filaments. These are most commonly used in turn signals where two filaments are needed. Bulb bases are identical between the 1157 and 2357.

Helpful Expert Reply: For an 1157 bulb like the # A1157B, in order to remove the old one you’ll want to gently push down on the bulb while twisting the bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise. You should then be able to pull the bulb from the socket.

Newer style 3157 bulbs just push in pull out. This! Might take a rag and gently push in on the bulb as you turn it. At the automotive stores they have (usually by the register) a little packet of light bulb grease, It helps with the corrosion and makes it easier to remove the bulbs in the future.

The main bulb can be removed by pushing down and rotating the bulb counterclockwise. There is a diagram on the inside of the case that explains this and it says turn it 30 degrees then pull up. I had to turn it several more times when I played with the light so it probably varies slightly.

Expert Reply: You can certainly replace all of the incandescent bulbs in your tail lights and marker lights with LED bulbs. LED bulbs offer many improvements over incandescent (standard) bulbs. First, they are typically brighter than incandescent bulbs.

It is not recommended to mix LEDs with incandescent lights on a trailer. LEDs require much less power than incandescents. If one of each where on the same circuit, the draw from the incandescents could damage the LEDs.

To check it is working, touch the two test leads of the multi-meter together, you should get a reading of 00.00 Ohms. With your multimeter negative test lead connected to the earth point on the car, test each of the three earth connection in the socket… (below).
