Intrinsic Motivation. Intrinsic motivation is inherent in the activities we perform for pure enjoyment or satisfaction. We engage in intrinsically motivated behavior because we want to experience the activity for its own sake. Unlike extrinsically motivated behavior, it is freely chosen (Deci, & Ryan, 1985).

Frontal lobe neurons that some scientists believe fire when performing certain actions or when observing another doing so; the brains mirroring of another’s actions may enable imitation and empathy; may provide neural basis for everyday imitation and observational learning.

Social Learning Theory

Observational learning describes the process of learning by watching others, retaining the information, and then later replicating the behaviors that were observed.

Observational Learning Theory lacks consideration of other important factors in learning. The Social Learning Theory generally ignores an individual’s physical and psychological limitations. Inherited conditions may affect how learners react to an act, as well as their ability to retain and repeat certain behaviors.

1. Create a baseline. People have different quirks and patterns of behavior.
2. Look for deviations.
3. Notice clusters of gestures.
4. Compare and contrast.
5. Look into the mirror.
6. Identify the strong voice.
7. Observe how they walk.

According to an interesting study, such “observing” people are high in mind-reading motivation (MRM) that can lead to many social benefits, including better teamwork. Mind-reading motivation is about the motivation to engage with other minds, and is distinct from the ability to accurately interpret others’ cues.

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior, cognition, and emotion. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity, including relating to individuals’ daily lives and the treatment of mental illness.
