India hosts two climatic subtypes- tropical monsoon climate, tropical wet and dry climate that fall under this group. 1) The most humid is the tropical wet climate—also known as tropical monsoon climate—that covers a strip of southwestern lowlands abutting the Malabar Coast, the Western Ghats, and southern Assam.

South India is warmer than North India as it is close to the equator. The north India is far from the equator and is hot in summer and cold in winter extreme climate because it is away from the coast.

Southern part of India do not experience very cold winters. This is because south India is surrounded by water on three sides. This enables moderating effect which maintains normal temperatures during winter.

Climate change is expected to worsen the frequency, intensity, and impacts of some types of extreme weather events. For example, sea level rise increases the impacts of coastal storms and warming can place more stress on water supplies during droughts.

Does a cold winter mean that global warming is over? No. Scientists say that severe winter weather is still to be expected from time to time. That kind of weather happens even during a long-term warming trend for the planet.

Some studies indicate that the polar jet stream has weakened over the past three decades — which means that the cold surface air from high latitudes increasingly makes it down to middle latitudes. There are also some signs that the Arctic polar vortex, driven by climate change, is also weakening and shifting.

With various factors conspiring to pump frigid Arctic air across most of North America, news published today by NASA and NOAA may not seem surprising: The planet is off to a relatively chilly start in 2021.
